One of the first major purchases I wanted to make was a tractor. I have researched many types, and brands trying to decide what was best for me. Used garden tractors, sub-compacts, and compacts were all on the table. I researched all the major brands including Kubota, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, and others. Ultimately, I decided to go with the TYM T264 sub-compact tractor.

Overview

After viewing an overview video on YouTube about the TYM brand, and the T264 in particular, I looked into the brand further. TYM is a Korean company, whose U.S. headquarters are in Wilson, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1951 and has been making tractors since the 70s. They also manufacture tractors for several other brands, including certain Mahindra models, and the full line of Rural King’s RK brand.

Specifications

The TYM T264, while considered a sub-compact, outperforms most other models in its class. It is powered by a 24hp Kukje 3 cylinder diesel engine with a rating of 18.3hp at the PTO. The tractor comes standard with a 2 range hydrostatic transmission and can reach a top speed of 12.9 mph. The TYM T264 sub-compact tractor is equipped with a category 1 three-point hitch which boasts an impressive 1534 pound lift capacity.

Many options are available for the TYM T264. These include a backhoe, front end loader, mid-mount mower deck, third function valve, and a single rear remote. The front end loader has an impressive 1,380-pound lift capacity, which is the highest I could find in a tractor this size. The backhoe has a digging depth of just over 6ft with a digging force of 2,877 pounds.

Conclusion

Overall this tractor can’t be beaten. I purchased the tractor with a front-end loader, 60-inch mower deck, third function, and rear remotes for under $20,000. Comparable packages from other brands would have cost me $5,000-$10,000 more. I only have around 10 hours on the tractor, but I am very pleased with it so far. Be sure to check back often to see how I put this mighty tractor to use!
